We completed work on lithological-structural and block geomechanical modeling of the Asachi field

In August 2024, work on lithological-structural and block geomechanical modeling of the Asachi field was completed.

The Asachi gold deposit, located in Kamchatka, has been familiar to SMT Consulting specialists for several years. Previously, our specialists developed frame lithological-structural and block geomechanical models of the field from scratch and subsequently updated them. Drilling was also carried out with full geomechanical characterization of the core and collection of rock samples for laboratory testing.

In preparation for ongoing work, mine specialists carried out extensive work to collect field data, map underground mine workings and describe well cores. Thanks to the high-quality data collected, it was possible to update the existing wireframe models. It is important to note the contribution of the mine’s geomechanical service specialists, who, thanks to their valuable comments and active involvement in the process, based on their own observations, were able to promptly propose changes to the frames to better match the virtual model with real underground conditions.

The project consisted not only of updating existing frame and block models, but also their preliminary transfer to various programs, so that in the future it would be possible to update models in the most convenient software, taking into account preferences and capabilities.
