Took part in the international conference “Review and discussion of the geomechanical situation of the mines of the Zhezkazgan region”
In May 2024, SMT specialists Ivan Livinsky (Director of Geomechanics and Hydrogeology) and Roman Bondarenko (Head of the Department of Geomechanics and Hydrogeology) took part in the international conference “Review and discussion of the geomechanical situation of the mines of the Zhezkazgan region”, held in Zhezkazgan (Republic of Kazakhstan).
The purpose of the conference was to find new approaches to solving pressing geomechanical issues at the mines of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP, as well as a consortium of organizations and enterprises that can make a significant contribution to stabilizing the geomechanical situation in the mines.
SMT specialists made presentations that focused on issues specific to the mines of the Zhezkazgan region at the intersection of disciplines: geomechanics and hydrogeology. The conference also included a visit to the mines.
Based on the results of the conference, it is planned to develop and approve a program for implementing the necessary projects in the field of geomechanics for the mines of the Zhezkazgan region.
